Kubernetes

Okay what's the big deal with Kubernetes?

Well it depends where you come from....

CTO: well as a CTO you need your organization to be able to adapt above all else. You can choose a code stack, you can choose an industry, you can operate in a funding environment whether IPO, Private, VC or self funded. No matter what you do and where and how you do it flexibility is key. adoptng a platform that allows you to BE flexible is key. adopting processes and procedure as well that are felxible are key but flexibility at its core is key. the markets shift and you need t oshift with them, Kubernetes and like technologies make felxibility a built in process. if you dont know if you are AWS or Azure or ON prem, but you build to do any, you are primed for success.

IT Admin: Oh wait I meant Dev Ops Engineer...... Let's be real, you are an IT admin your job is to know the OS, know the platform and make sure the devs actually built something you can maintain to make money for your overlords. Well for FFS, the Phoenix project wants to tear down the wall, but you know a 22 year old developer no matter how empowered is not going to own $5m a day in profit from your E-commerce site, its on you to own it and make it work. How does more complexity in Kubernetes help you? Well as an Admin who came from the dev world let me tell you.. you own all the success, you own the success of 99.9999x up time, you own the stability of transactions, and you control the user facing code, by simple controlling the configuration of the deployed apps by a simple Kubernetes app definition.

Developer: Oh gawd Kubernetes is just more for me to do, but in a world where I can remove that old IT OPs admin guy I can make magic happen. I can steal control away from the gatekeepers and I can own the success of my app. No more dependency hell, no more well we can't update that fast, no more i don't know what i am doing. I can steal all that control and i can own my app through API driven interaction and control and i can make that old gray hair IT admin obsolete.

CEO: I work and industry and I need my team to be able to respond to  ever changing markets. I need to not be locked in a technology hat limits me. i need to choose tech that fundamentally allows me to succeed and not limit me to any particular choices. Well good news, Kubernetes opens a world of opportunity where i can look at my tech tram and ask, as opposed to provide. they can deliver as opposed to explain why we can't, i can envision and they can execute as juxtaposed to struggle.
